As a college student, Pastor Joel never thought that he would end up in ministry. Going to school for acting and music the Lord soon changed his trajectory, and he couldn't be happier. Starting in ministry in 2008 he has been amazed at the way God has shaped and molded him over the years. Having a rich heritage in the Church of God, Joel, his wife Shafali, and their four kids were thrilled to be called to serve Liberty Street in the Fall of 2020. Pastor Joel has a passion for the word of God and helping each and every person to experience Jesus in the day-to-day. He believes that the home is our first discipleship field and that family is the place we begin to live out our faith. He is excited for what God is doing at Liberty Street and can't wait to see what God will do next. Outside of ministry life, Pastor Joel loves board games, movies, and a good burger.
Born in the Mid-Ohio Valley and raised about 3 blocks from Liberty Street Church, Eric never dreamed that he’d wind up part of the Liberty Street staff; but after several years as a “part-time” youth pastor and a full-time landscape business owner, that’s exactly where he landed in August of 2015. Returning to Parkersburg after he graduated college; Eric and his high school sweetheart, Olivia, married in 2013. They love Jesus, they love His church, and they love the teens in their youth group (even the ones that smell a little funky). Outside of “ministry stuff” Eric remodels houses, eats a lot of ice cream, and obsesses over the mow lines in his yard.
It wasn't easy leaving the church she had called home for the first 22 years of her life, but this coal miner's daughter from Pennsylvania knew that she had found a wonderful new family when she walked through the doors of Liberty Street Church for the first time in 2016. Over the past five years, Katie has served in the nursery, children's ministry, on the Property & Finance team, Church Council, and Pulpit Committee. But as a professor at a local community college, Katie is really a teacher at heart with an intense love for crafting, the outdoors, reading, and mathematics. When the need for a children's director arose, she felt God calling her to a new challenge. These days you will often find her covered in glue and glitter, laughing with a gaggle of little ones, and praying that YOU will join us soon at Liberty Street Kids Korner.
